Vision
Economy
It is my belief that there is one fundamental line that separates pragmatists
from idealistic leaders' world over. And that is the fact that Idealist School
of thought produces speeches full of dreams and ideal communities, while
the pragmatist's leaders make their dream communities a reality. I have
indulged my time since November 2009 to realizing the ideals of
development of Indaka as a Mayor. To that effect, I have thus far achieved
the following to mention but a few
" Improvement in Councilor Oversight role
" Improved Community Participation
" Improved Infrastructural Development
" Revival of Ward Committees
" Establishment of HIV/AIDS Council
The Mayor -Cllr N.B Nchunu
Indaka's economy is currently relying on subsistence agriculture,
government services
Indaka Local Municipality is dedicated to enhancing the living
standards of its community, whilst upholding its responsibility to its
leadership. We are committed to providing support to both
governmental and non-governmental organisations, promoting
effective participation by private/public partnerships and making
possible efficient delivery of basic infrastructure and services.
Textile, clothing, footwear and leather
industries have historically been the mainstay
of the regional economy, with food,
beverages and tobacco being the other
significant manufacturing sub-sector.
The vision is informed by following attributes:
" Indaka is a rural Municipality
" The majority of Indaka households are poor
" That prior 1994 Indaka was not included under Local Government structures
The vision is as follows:
"Championing development to improve the quality of life to all Indaka communities"
The Mission Statement has been carefully crafted to give a motivating message
to the staff and the residents of Indaka Municipality
It is as follows:
" Providing Basic Services in a sustainable manner
" Promoting a Social and Economic Development
" Promoting a Safe and Healthy Environment
" Promoting Public Participation in the matter of Local Government
